This a fully accredited 3 day course. It has 2 units 1) Emergency First Aid in the Workplace and 2) Recognition and Management of Illness and Injury in the workplace. By the end of the course you will:
Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
Be able to assess an incident
Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty
Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking
Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding
Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock
Know how to provide first aid to casualties with minor injuries
Be able to conduct a secondary survey
Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints
Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries
Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries
Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness.
This course is assessed via a practical observation and a multiple-choice theory exam.

Paediatric First Aid
Paediatric First Aid – 2 Day £125pp / 12 hours
Emergency Paediatric First Aid – 1 day £99pp / 6 hours
Suitable for Early Years Foundation stages including Child Minders and Nursery Nurses.
1. Training is designed for workers caring for young children in the absence of their parents and is appropriate to the age of the children being cared for.
2. Following training an assessment of competence leads to the award of a certificate.
3. Certificate lasts for 3 years
4. Includes recovery position, CPR (resuscitation), burns and scalds, shock, anaphylaxis and allergic reactions, bites and stings, and choking
• Be able to assess an emergency situation and prioritise what action to take
• Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
• Help a baby or child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
• Help a baby or child who is having a seizure
• Help a baby or child who is choking
• Help a baby or child who is bleeding
• Help a baby or child who is suffering from shock caused by severe blood loss (hypovolemic shock)
• Help a baby or child who is suffering from anaphylactic shock
• Help a baby or child who has had an electric shock
• Help a baby or child who has burns or scalds
• Help a baby or child who has a suspected fracture
• Help a baby or child with head, neck or back injuries
• Help a baby or child who is suspected of being poisoned
• Help a baby or child with a foreign body in eyes, ears or nose
• Help a baby or child with an eye injury
• Help a baby or child with a bite or sting
• Help a baby or child who is suffering from the effects of extreme heat or cold
• Help a baby or child having: a diabetic emergency; an asthma attack; an allergic reaction; meningitis; and/or febrile convulsions
• Understand the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider (including appropriate contents of a first aid box and the need for recording accidents and incidents)
